Box Galleries presents a solo show by Alex Hall 'Haut de Gamme'
About
Alex Hall, 27, is now regarded as one of Britain’s most promising home-grown and talented emerging contemporary pop artists. His collection, or brand, ‘Haut de Gamme’, (translated from the French: “Top of the range”), is a celebration of colour, form and technique and depicts racing cars, wild safari animals and his signature image, magnum champagne bottles.
Following in the mold of Warhol’s focus in the 1960s on every-day objects from consumer society such as Campbell’s soup cans, Hall’s chosen themes, 60 years on, of hedonism and excess run throughout his Haut de Gamme series, as his works reflect modern society’s attraction to some of the trappings from life in the fast lane in 2018.
Alex Hall"s great grandfather was a fellow student and associate of 18th century artist JMW Turner, who came to be regarded as the greatest of all English landscape painters.
