Born in Manchester in1915, Harry Ousey's recognisable abstract paintings were considered to be ahead of his time.

About

During the 1950's his distilled naturalism, alighting on structural landmarks like hill profiles, tidal marks in sand or dry stone walls, chimed with abstracting modern Cornish ar in general and with the work of Scott, Lanyon, Frost, Hilton or Barnsgraham in particular.  

Centred on the celbrated colony of St. Ives, these artists were natural bedfellow for a Northern artist who, despite his decided origins, became a preipatetic figure...
