Hanne Westergaard - Nature Observed

About

Danish born ceramic artist Hanne Westergaard trained at the Kunsthandvaerkaskolen in Copenhagen before moving to Staffordshire in the mid 1980's. Now working from the Yorkshire Artspace's Persistence Works studio in Sheffield, she is well known for her porcelain and soda-fired stoneware vessels. More recently her work has moved away from domestic objects, towards more sculptural and installation based work. For 'Nature Observed' she presents new installations and collections of works inspired by childhood memories of the seashore and time spent on the Norfolk coast. Works include collections of sea birds, spirals of ceramic ox-eye daisies and glazed ceramic pebbles.
