Exploring the space between nature documentary and anthropological account, Hanna Tuulikki presents a performative lecture, part of her recent project Deer Dancer, presented as part of the Edinburgh Festival 2019.

About

Deer Dancer investigates the mimesis of deer, specifically representations within dance from across cultures. The work examines how the imitation of deer behaviour constructs an idea of wilderness as the site for the cultivation of hetero-masculinity and how hunting mythologies shape and impact real ecologies. Deer Dancer is an explicit, contemporary, life-crisis ritual for a damaged planet.
