AboutThis exhibition brings together the work of Luke Skiffington and James Bacchi-Andreoli for the the first time. The title, taken from a Dadaist play by Tristan Tzara, encapsulates the artists' common concern with visual and conceptual juxtapositions, in a meeting of disparate elements and contradictory impulses. In their work the pedestrian and everyday is played off against the poetic and enigmatic.
Pitching paintings and photographs together, their work examines our relationship with natural and man-made environments. Mapping landscape and place, their work presents images of what is often overlooked: the generic, everyday or mundane are placed centre stage. Identifying the abstract qualities of our surroundings, their work stretches and provokes questions of how we perceive our contemporary world.
