As a structural engineer, Tom Robertshaw spends his days exploring how creative structures can be made real. His talk will place us in the mindset of an engineer, as he discusses how freehand drawing can be used in different ways at different stages of a design process.
About
The point where conversations between engineers, architects and builders meet and how drawing plays a part in thinking through ideas and communicating them will be the starting point of the talk. Tom Robertshaw will give us an insight into engineers' approaches to problem solving and how drawing can crystallise ideas, alongside using our mind's eye.
Biography
As a director of GL&SS, a leading engineering consultancy, Tom Robertshaw spends his days exploring how creative structures can be made real. Among other things Tom will discuss the difference between drawing to problem solve and drawing to communicate, at different stages of a design process.
