With the term ‘crisis’ forming a repeat refrain in current events, how can we carve out space to acknowledge the toll this takes on mental health, find ways counter anxiety, and carve space out for personal wellbeing?

In this workshop, led by artist and embodied social justice practitioner Lateisha Lovelace-Hanson, we will explore rituals for reconnecting with our physical-spiritual bodies. We will use breathing, movement and writing to develop a sense of grounding, expansion and pleasure. Join us in examining what healing, self-connection and interdependent liberation can look like in times of instability and uprising. Please bring water, a notebook and pens, and any objects of personal meaning / sacredness.

This workshop is free to attend and open to all but booking is necessary, as spaces are limited. For this online session, we will be using video calling platform Zoom. It is possible to take part with or without setting up an account, and we will send instructions for joining ahead of the day. Please email holly@turf-projects.com for access needs / requirements.

Groundwerk is a monthly series of free practical workshops for artists and creatives wishing to gain the skills to support their practice. This workshop is one of a series of sessions Lateisha has developed, titled To The Ritual Knowledge Of Remembering. This workshop is supported by Arts Council England.
