What is augmented reality (AR) and how can it be used within creative practices?

In this workshop led by artist Sung Nam Han, learn about different forms of AR and experiment with using everyday technology to generate a new encounter with the world around you. We will be working collaboratively to develop a collection of playful artworks. All welcome! Please bring along smartphone if you have one.

Groundwerk is a monthly series of free practical workshops for artists and creatives wishing to gain the skills to support their practice.

This workshop is free to attend and open to all but booking is recommended, as spaces are limited.

Sung Nam Han is an artist and is Director of Art in Country of Tokyo (AICOT) and Interdisciplinary Art Festival Tokyo (IAFT). Sung Nam Han makes her artworks thinking carefully about “what watching a video is”. Her work takes on multiple forms, including performance, interactive art installations made through a blue background editing method known as keying, and wearable / pocketable video works using smartphones, small cameras or monitors. Much of her practice focuses on the concept of the “super linear” and combines video, play and dance.
