In this free artists’ workshop, learn how to make pigments from plants with artist Sigrid Holmwood. Follow the process of extracting colours from berries, beetles, and other natural materials, and mix your own egg tempura.

Groundwerk is a monthly series of free practical workshops for artists and creatives wishing to gain the skills to support their practice.

This workshop is free to attend and open to all but booking is recommended as spaces are limited.

Sigrid Holmwood works with an expanded form of painting, including performance, video, gardening and pigment-making – all through the framework of her persona, the peasant-painter. She has exhibited solo projects with Hallands Konstmuseum, Sweden (2013), Vitamin Creative Space, Beijing (2011), and Annely Juda Fine Art (2008, 2012); and group shows at The Saatchi Gallery (2016, 2010), Compton Verney (2009). She is currently working on constructing a pigment garden in collaboration with Joya: arte + ecología , in the Sierra María los Vélez mountains in Almería, Spain.
