GRAVIDITY is an art group which is focused on human body – clothing – space.
Why is depiction of a naked body so attractive? What does it say about the society and artists themselves?

About

Das Giftraum are pleased to welcome art collective GRAVIDITY who will present 'Please change your clothes'

Vernissage:

Fri 1 March /// 19-01h (incl a program of events + performances)

Opening hours:

Sat 2 /// 17-20h

Sun 3 /// 12-20h

We change our identity every day through changing our clothes. Working with the idea of a changing room in the exhibition’s space, we will pose the questions: What is this hidden space for us? How one can change the borders between intimacy, exhibitionism and voyeurism? Are these borders just fabric of a curtain or something more?

The audience will be able to transform their identities through the act of changing their clothes. You can exchange your clothes, just for a while, before returning to them, or you can take your new identity home, begin anew. Are the new clothes already part of our internal expression, or is our newly designed identity better than our former one?

The exhibition will include a site-specific changing room with performance, “hiding” photo-books, porcelain objects, feet portraits and a program of events during the Vernissage. By employing a mix of different artistic techniques (assemblage – sculpture – photography – video – performance...) we are able disconnect ourselves from the traditional depiction of the act itself.
