Christmas group exhibition and experimental shopping experience.

About

Following on from the success of Grand Magasin in 2013, we look forward to revisiting the project for Christmas 2015. This experimental examination of a shopping experience will run from Tuesday 15th – Sunday 20th December at French Riviera in Bethnal Green, East London.

Artists have been asked to contribute pieces that fall within the realms of a ‘shopping show’, with no defined limits as to what will be included other than that they are affordable. Everything displayed is for sale and price tagged as such in a playful exploration of labour, value, art and commerce.

The 2015 range includes ceramic pots, painted plaster pineapples and pomegranates, turned timber and pom-pom vases, cast glass receptacles, furniture, drawings, prints, houseplants, Victorian Stereoscopes and lingerie. Works come from a wide range of artists and makers with diverse practices including:

Daisy Addison, Fay Ballard, Nat Breitestein, Owen Bullett, Harry Burden, Stuart Carey, Radio Cascabel, Pippa Choy, Dan Coopey, Will Cruickshank, Denise de Cordova, Marie D’Elbee, Ellen Mara De Wachter, Thomas Dozol, Tom Ellis, Kris Emmerson, Jessie Flood- Paddock, Seana Gavin, Ludovica Gioscia, Vivienne Griffin, Lynn Hatzius, Holly Hayward, Fabienne Hess, Joey Holder, Siân Hislop, Rebecca Johnson, Melanie Levack, Samuel Levack and Jennifer Lewandowski, Cian McConn, Bryan Mills, Nicholas Pankhurst, Sonya Patel Ellis, Berry Patten, Lyle Perkins, Marianne Spurr, Nicola Tassie, Jennifer Taylor, Cicely Travers, Rocco Turino, Bea Turner, Jeremy Willett, Lucy Woodhouse.
