SomoS presents Canadian visual artist Adam Lupton's paintings in his solo exhibition "Gradually, then suddenly," on view from March 1-12, 2022.
About
Lupton’s ability to reveal the universal by unabashedly delving into the personal is expressed in an arresting series of new works.During his artist residency at SomoS, which was kindly supported by The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation, Adam Lupton has created a series of paintings dealing with the individual and societal ritual behavior characteristic of both OCD and the human need for certainty, working with stamp and transfer-based applications.
Referencing how Covid-19 has aroused in everyone a new layer of hyper-awareness, Lupton’s aim for this new work is to resonate with the self-isolation, loneliness, and pandemic-related adjustments many have had to make over its course.
