The exhibition will reveal the cutting-edge of GPO (General Post Office) poster design from 1930 1960, featuring work by leading designers such as Tom Eckersley, Edward McKnight Kauffer and Pat Keely. It will explore how the GPO used design both to address public perceptions of a government service and for commercial purposes, promoting its business and spurring people to action. Photographs and other archive material will be used to contextualise the posters within the graphic design.
