Anna Barriball, Magali Reus and Katie Schwab. Curated by Jamie George with an essay by Richard Whitby
The exhibition, installed and re-installed over three days, includes found objects alongside recent artworks by Anna Barriball, Magali Reus and Katie Schwab. The exhibition's title, GOTTA GETTAWAY, is appropriated from a song title by the Northern Irish punk band, The Stiff Little Fingers. The lyric states, You know there ain't no street like home / to make you feel so all alone," before the final line declaring, "I'm leaving home". The song's opposition to the literal meaning of nostalgia - the condition of homesickness, or of longing for things of the past - offers a direct-line into reviewing sentiments relating to the isolation of everyday objects within a domestic site"
