About
Gommie (2016-2017) uses his diaries to lift specific memories into highly personal, visual poems that he straight up called ‘His Gommies’. These buckle into love and sex addiction, the internet, English politics. And the murky barrier that exists between survival and adventure (in Wantage). Gommie is an actor by trade, rarely in the same spot for very long and so he uses what he can, when he can, to make a Gommie happen. Pens, old pieces of wood, chalk from the edge of a cliff, paints, accidentally stolen stuff B&Q; whatever object Gommie can find that works; he uses.
Gommie does not believe what he is doing is art. Gommie believes what he is doing is Gommie. Gommie believes anyone can Gommie. Gommie believes all you need to Gommie is a pen, something to write on, and the infinite…which is pretty bloody infinite. I am Gommie. I am writing this statement. I will never lie to you. Hi.
