Stage Gallery is excited to announce that our artist exhibiting in January 2025 is Roman, presenting his solo show ‘Gold and Silver: A Pokémon collection’ 

‘Gold and Silver: A Pokémon collection’ is an exploration into the translation of forms. When an idea is taken from your mind and turned into a physical work : what does it loose in this process of translation ? How can we keep as much of its original quality as possible ?

Roman presents us with 20 wigs, each a translation of a Pokémon from a deck of collectible cards. A continuation from Roman’s previous work where he translated images of the sky into hair : he continues this process by dissecting the form , structure & colour of these fantastical creatures. Roman uses his sculptural + painterly ability to communicate fantasy through the medium of wig making, hair cutting + hair dye.
