Goh Ideta: Reflections

Step into an interactive light installation and be surrounded by a glittering shower of reflections. In this new work by Japanese artist Goh Ideta, a cushioned floor is covered with thousands of mirrored tiles. As you move through the space, even the slightest shift creates dancing shapes of light.

Goh Ideta is an artist from Hokkaido, Japan who explores perceptions of light and space. His works are playful and interactive, often requiring the presence of a visitor to activate or complete them. Following a prestigious residency at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, Ideta has shown internationally including at the Novena Bienal de La Habana in Cuba (2006), the 7th Werkleitz Biennale in Germany (2006) and was the 'New Artist Picks' at Yokohama Museum of Art, Japan (2007).

Presented as part of the Wunderbar Festival, a dynamic new festival of contemporary performances, visual art, and extraordinary happenings for the North East that places the audience at the heart of the experience. The festival takes place 6-15 November. Full programme details can be found at www.wunderbarfestival.co.uk

Wunderbar is funded by Arts Council England, North East and One North East. Wunderbar was originated and developed by Fierce Earth and forms part of NewcastleGateshead's world-class festivals and events programme developed by culture10. 'Reflections' is supported by the Pola Art Foundation and presented in association with Vane.
