GIRLS ON FILM "Women by Women"

About

International group of female artists takes over a former strip club, inviting the viewers to explore the contemporary positioning of women in front and behind the camera. The exhibition is part of the programme of the art festival 48 Stunden Neukölln 2017.

In TRANSFER, Russian multimedia artist Victoria Alexandrova aka VikaValter (Kamchatka, 1982) transfers modern female characters on old canvases through a challenging photo transfer technique. Series is a reflection on images of femininity throughout the times. The transferring process binds together the current digital and old analog mediums, creating a thoughtful mutation of time, texture and interpretation of femininity.

SALVATION is about the shadows and highlights of a new cosmopolitan beginning – the beautiful moments and conversations with strong women captured into portraits. Oona Heleena (Sukeva, 1994) is a Finnish artist and a founder of an online magazine We Are The People. In Berlin her camera is discovering a new documentarian edge, traveling from fashion editorials into the raw truth of life.

GIRLS ON FILM is a series by a Finnish photographer and film maker Ilsa Hellman (Kuusamo, 1986). Artist confronts women in traditional settings of visual submission - setting up tense moments in search of triggers for female rebellion. The conceptual series is mapping the limits of current female imagery and studying the energies in between a muse and a maker.

Eine Internationale Gruppe von Künstlerinnen übernimmt einen ehemaligen Strip Club und lädt ein, die gegenwärtige Positionierung von Frauen vor und hinter der Kamera zu erforschen.

In der Reihe TRANSFER modifiziert die Russische Multimediakünstlerin VikaValter moderne digitale und alte analoge Medien um die interpretation der Weiblichkeit im Wandel der Zeit zu reflektieren.

SALVATION, eine Portrait-Serie der finnischen Fotografin Oona Heleena fängt ihre Begegnungne mit starken, weltoffenen Frauen ein.

GIRLS ON FILM der Finnischen Fotografin Ilsa Hellman konfrontiert Frauen in traditionellen Szenen visueller Unterordnung auf der Suche nach Austausch über weibliches Aufbegehren.
