Gill Dixon uses hand stitch as if it were drawing and collaged fabric like paint to interpret the various moods and atmosphere of the area, from Downs to sea, river to beach.

About

Exploring the potential of embroidery produces a stitched investigation into the interpretation of dimensionality of the terrain whether it be hills and rivers or meadows and gardens and even East London streets. Sweeps of loose hand sewing and random threads elucidate changes of light and colour as seen in the West Sussex landscape.

Participation in communal stitching is a recent new development, taking the random textile interpolations of strangers and compiling a new piece of work  to express the happy ‘accident’ of every day.
