Join Giacomo Bevanati in the first chapter of the new art series which is being developed during a residency By Other Means: Emotional Chair - Regular | Irregular.
Giacomo’s wearable sculptures are made through continuous weavings of wire, the links unfold in his hands following no pattern or model. His creatures emerge from his psychological state as ghosts from another realm.
Watch Giacomo’s work be brought to life through an intimate dance performance which will accompany the first act of ‘Emotional Chair’
This will be one of four performances exploring some of the dichotomies in art making.
Regular|Irregular - examines the tension between method and chaos in creativity. The impulse towards technique and repetition, in stark contrast to the wish to break out of this mould and construct something new.
In this way, Giacomo’s autodidactic process varies from consistent to freeform movements, both modes being built into his meshwork sculptures and creating an ever mutating structure.
It is this structure that the dancers shall perform, observing the physical and gestural Development of Giacomo’s work in order to create an immersive environment on the theme.
Further Performances will develop the themes:
Continuous|Discontinuous
Static|Dynamic
Introspective|Extrospective
