About

Gerald Mynott is a British landscape painter, working in watercolour, oil and pastel. His inspiration is drawn from architecture, parks and gardens in many European cities, such as Venice & Vienna as well as his fondness for places closer to home, such as Charleston, Brighton and London.

Born in Hampstead in 1957, Gerald studied heraldry, calligraphy and illumination at Reigate College of Art and Design, leading to 3 years working as a Herald Painter at the College of Arms. In 1979, he spent time in Vienna, studying at the Künstlerhaus.

Since 1980, Gerald Mynott’s work has been exhibited in many solo exhibitions. He has twice exhibited in New York and also in Hong Kong. In 1989 he received the Lloyds Print-Making Award.

Gerald has undertaken many private commissions, including one for Antony Lambton, for ‘The Lunette’, a book made in vellum in 1989. Gerald’s work also features in the collection of The Kings Fund, London. His work has been selected twice for inclusion as featured artist in The Discerning Eye exhibition by Sir Roy Strong and Julius Bryant, Keeper at the Victoria & Albert Museum.

Between 1980 and 2014 Gerald was represented by Francis Kyle Gallery. Curwen Gallery has a long association with the Mynott family, having published many prints during the 80’s and 90’s with Gerald’s father, Derek Mynott.
