Gegen Transmutation - Tag Der Clubkultur

About

The exhibition on October the 3rd, 2021 consists of a group of Berlin-based multidisciplinary artists and will take place in the KIB- Raum für Kunst, Eichenstrasse 4, Arena/Badeschiff, 12435 Berlin.

Through the theme of ‘Transmutation’, a diverse group of artists is brought together who examine the subject of transforming or change. This convergence of one element into another can happen naturally as well as artificially. Some of the artists in this exhibition create fantastical make-believe worlds, using this metamorphosis as a means to escape the dull, banal, and unaccepting world we live in. These often fragmented aesthetics reveal a deep interest in hybridization and the merging or re-creation of forms to create something new, not yet discovered. By re-examining identity constructs, the artists featured here produce works which are raw and immediate. Personal and intimate. They ask us to re-examine what is considered ‘normal’ and open our view to include those who are outside of this realm.
We are invited, much the same way as when we enter a club, to explore another world, the transformation of reality- here fantasy meets carnal energy. The normal world is left behind as we step into the club world or artist’s world. The theme of transmutation has been chosen as a bridge between the freeing world of clubs and the imaginative world of the artists.
The exhibition will include photography, painting, drawing and sculpture, as well as new media, such as video and live performances.

Curated by Suzy Royal, Independent Curator Berlin, in collaboration with Marius Sagau and Fabio Boxikus, organizers of Gegen Berlin.
