This exhibition looks at how the painter has been asked to define themselves as an Artist and/or a Painter since Conceptual Art
About
Painting as an object is a problem’ (Leckey. M, 2010)
Gebilde painters curated in response to a Panel Discussion, ‘The Trouble with Painting’, which took place at the ICA on the 18 November 2010 with Margarita Gluzberg, Vanessa Jackson, Mark Leckey and Bruce Maclean
This exhibition looks at how the painter has been asked to define themselves as an Artist and/or a Painter since Conceptual Art. Does a Painter materialize ideas as the result of a creative thinking process during painting and are these ideas 'painterly' before they become visible? Does a Painter form a concept which they bring into painterly, artistic expression? Is a 'concept' the same as a 'mental picture'?
