Evening reception to celebrate the success of the exhibition and mark it's final weekend on display.

About

This collection of sublime contemporary art was brought together at the Lime Tree Gallery to celebrate the organic and elemental; with digital distractions taking up much of our attention, it's important to create space for the natural world around us from clay to dust to sea.

Some of the artists involved include Carol Sinclair, who explores the theme of connection in her ceramic work; the importance of memory in how we relate to each other and our environment. The collection of six delicate, three-dimensional porcelain sculptures by Sinclair play with light and shadow as the layered fragments interact.

Joanne Soroka is another esteemed artist involved in the show; she has been creating refined hand-spun tapestries for over forty years, included in numerous group and solo exhibitions around the world. Traditional hand crafted tapestries evoke memories of earth and rock in this display, tapping into the organic but contemporary vein running through the show.

Artist Jude Edgar is a lifetime painter of many approaches; her newest work includes exquisitely soft abstract watercolours which dance with subtle touches of bronze powder. Inspired by the spectacular Scottish landscape, she works mainly in her garden studio, on a hill with panoramic views of Findhorn Bay, the Moray Firth and beyond.

You will also find extraordinarily detailed freehand machine embroidery by Kenris MacLeod, energetic mixed media drawing and collage by Clare Yarrington and superb relief paintings built with pigmented ash, marble dust and sand by Carmen Carmeli (Rayavargas) among others.
