About

This is the first exhibition in fifty years solely devoted to the landscapes of the great painter and portraitist Thomas Gainsborough (1727-1788). It brings together some of his finest landscape oils and works on paper from a range of public and private collections in the UK.

Although Thomas Gainsborough (1727-1788) sold relatively few of his landscape paintings, he regarded them as his most important work. This exhibition, spanning his whole career, enables you to explore his landscapes through a variety of themes which reveal developments in style and composition.

Exhibition organised by the Holburne Museum, Bath.
