Reflecting on the Art of War

About

Focusing on ‘The Great War: Britain's Efforts and Ideals’, a series of lithographs commissioned by the Ministry of Information, this talk will show how artists responded to their experiences during World War One, whether in the battlefields or on the Home Front. We will explore the extraordinary creativity inspired by the bloodshed of the Great War, from symbolic propaganda to more personal, unofficial work. Presented by Dr Caroline Palmer of the Ashmolean Museum, curator of the exhibition 'Artists Under Fire: Remembering the Great War 1914–18’.
