About
Walking exploration via Stratford High Street to Bow Arts Trust Open Studios, 183 Bow Road E3. Afternoon tea and debate hosted by Delvendhal Martin: the future of work.
Stratford High Street, recently rebranded as the Olympic Fringe, dereliction still in evidence, leftovers from a remarkable industrial past, is being transformed. Market driven housing developments sprout like fertile extrusions. Retail units, failed planner's ambitions, are cynically boarded up. The smell of a quick deal is everywhere. Our walk and debate will ask the question: how will we work? Stratford carries the promise of a new London economy: spaces for creative innovation and ideas. Olympicopolis, the V&A, universities, dance, film, unthinkable a decade ago, are being woven into the fabric of this new piece of city. We will visit the good, the bad and the ugly in Stratford High Street's working places and ask: new dawn or nightmare?
Meet 1pm at the fountains beside Arcelor Mittal Tower, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
