About
Friedrich Nagler (1920-2009) was a Jewish émigré and self-taught artist born in Vienna, Austria. He escaped Nazi occupation in 1938 and was deported from England to Canada as an ‘enemy alien’. After the war he returned to England and developed his passion for making art. This display shows some of the many thousands of pieces he created, some of which were inspired by his flight from Nazi-occupied Austria to England.
Part of the Insiders/Outsiders festival which celebrates the contribution of Jewish refugees to British culture.
