About
Four London Painters: Frank Auerbach, Francis Bacon, Prunella Clough, Lucian Freud
In 1976 R B Kitaj curated an exhibition called ‘The Human Clay’ in which he showcased his argument for a ‘School of London’. His choices were figurative artists. In this study day we will look at three artists of Kitaj’s choice plus an important Londoner he omitted; an artist who was profoundly inspired by the city’s urban environment.
David Cuthbert is an artist and teacher with a special interest in the history of art. He and his wife Ros Cuthbert (RWA) run classes at The Art Shed, a small private art school in Winscombe. David is a member of the Bath Society of Artists, and the St Ives Society of Artists.
