About

This is the first time celebrated husband and wife artists And Hill and Carol Kemp have exhibited at a gallery in London together. Over the past 25 years their work has been collected and commissioned by numerous individuals and companies, including IBM, Sony, John Lewis, The Royal Academy of Art, Harrods, English National Opera, British Airways, Cadbury's and Unilever. The show, which is in support of the charity Vision Aid Overseas, displays a broad collection of their work, never seen before. And's colourful orchestrations of stained and impastoed acrylics on canvas are distillations of loves, dreams and experiences, spontaneously created with reoccurring and evolving motifs. Subtly crafted from an idiosyncratic repertoire of techniques, they are imbued with a quality of naturalness without referring explicitly to nature. And says, Utilising the propensity of the paint is important in creating the kinds of picture I want to see but it's an interactive process, never one that's left to chance".
