FORM5 is a dynamic collective of five emerging artists, united by a shared aim for
capturing the essence of humanity through contemporary portraiture. This first exhibition, "Conceal and Reveal," explores themes of visibility and hidden depths through this new series of paintings.
About
FORM5 utilises collaborative creativity and innovation to extend the individual skills of each artist. Working alongside each other on research, initial concepts, and development has enabled each painter to produce work that pushes beyond boundaries, challenging conventional solutions to pictorial storytelling, and fostering new ways of composing and applying paint to produce psychologically enriched still imagery. The five works on show in the main gallery exemplify the collective’s common interest in the distortion of perception, through the interplay between light and shadow, and how this leads to a juxtaposition of what is seen versus what is hidden.
Each of the contributing artists, Deborah Simon Frank, Kevin Kane, Ella Sheltawy, Rory Maguire, and Vanessa Brassey - a.k.a. FORM5 - has brought their unique perspective to this theme, resulting in a diverse yet cohesive collection of works. Each canvas allows for detailed storytelling, inviting viewers to step closer and uncover the subtleties and intricacies embedded within each piece. Preparatory work is exhibited in the adjacent rooms.
