This July artisan, NW10s most creative corner, welcomes master craftsman Patrick Turk for his first London show. Fallen wood is gathered from Sherwood Forest which is milled and dried by Patrick then lovingly transformed into beautiful inspirational pieces. In the throes of a âthrow-away' society this is the antithesis.
Bespoke furniture gives a room a sense of its own unique identity not possible with something that is mass produced. In terms of design, Patrick draws much of his inspiration from traditional English country furniture from the 16th & 17th centuries, but he also allows the wood to influence how the finished pieces turn out so the grain is displayed to the best advantage. This sometimes results in the marriage of traditional style with a more contemporary âlook'.
