Dresden based artist Jean Kirsten (1966) presents a solo exhibition at Roots Gallery exploring the expressionist dance of choreographer Rudolf Laban through visual art as an expansion of his experience with rhythm, shape and space. This will be the inaugural exhibition of the newly formed Coventry/Dresden Art Exchange, and will open in collaboration with the launch of the Coventry Peace Festival on 1st November 2012.
Coventry/Dresden Arts Exchange, an artist led initiative founded by Coventry Artist John Yeadon, seeks to develop creative dialogue between Coventry and Dresden to encourage collaborative exchanges, exhibitions, educational projects and forums for visual artists in both cities.
The exhibition will open to the public on October 30th and a launch event will be held in conjunction with the launch of Coventry Peace Festival at Roots Gallery on November 1st 2012. An âIn Conversation' event will be held with the artist on 8th November, 6pm-8pm.
