Day ONE: CONSTELLATIONS / Screenings from the ‘archive’ and beyond

/// Thursday 4th October 5.30 to 8.30pm ///

A series of curated moving image programmes which extend the curatorial and artistic practices of Annie Jael Kwan, Erika Tan, and Sung Tieu through creating personal genealogies, continuities of thought and articulations through the work of others. The looping programmes which include the work of other UK and internationally based artists and a series of performance documentation of artists from Southeast Asia will be screened simultaneously in Raven Rows ground floor gallery space.

East London Cable will also be screening documentation of a performance that took place in the top floor flat in Raven Row. Once the home of ‘Rebecca’, now a site of ELC’s weekly TV productions.

PASAWAY SARI SARI STORE #000. Providing information throughout the events and a place to share, exchange and network. Chi Bagtas and Glo Orpilla are a duo of artists working within the collaborative practice: PASAWAY.

Day TWO: CIRCULATIONS

/// Friday 5th October 5.30 to 8.30pm ///

A series of presentations and discussion which utilise ideas of ‘circulating’ to connect ideas around agency, archives, economic status, and art world movements.

5.30 - 6 pm / Listening Session: Cuong Pham will be taking the vinyl digging experience away from the record store, DJ booth, or the studio, join him in rummaging through records to kick-start the evening.

6 - 8.30 pm / Presentations, performances, discussion: Fyerool Darma follows with “I cut over the seas, with a mournful song to embrace your soul” - an oratory performance to comfort the skull of a Riau Islander held in the Hunterian Museum in London. Erika Tan connects ideas of misplaced objects and sonic memes to a screening and discussion of her work, linking to a listening session with Cuong Pham titled “Spinning Beats”, in which the humble vinyl will be explored through a social and historical lens. This is followed by Nie Xiaoyi's curatorial methodology of 'marching' and around the room discussion.

The discussion event will be accompanied by the presence of PASAWAY SARI SARI STORE #000. Providing information throughout the events and a place to share, exchange and network. Chi Bagtas and Glo Orpilla are a duo of artists working within the collaborative practice: PASAWAY.

Day THREE / LIVE #1: Contract With the Skin

/// Saturday 6th October 1:00 - 5:00pm ///

Contract with the Skin is an afternoon of performances and durational actions. It comprises a gathering of performance artists, each presenting work in a shared space, one after the other, sometimes overlapping, merging beginnings and endings. With their body as archive and site of action, across space and time, they come individually and work collectively. Identity is only a placeholder for the wide range of individual practices and research that investigate across themes of racial and social justice, gender and sexual politics, body and material, voice and sound, public engagement and social experiment. Artists include: Eunjung Kim, Nicholas Tee, Tianqi Liu, Kimvi Nguyen, Ada Hao, You He, Quek Jia Qi, Menting Zhuo, Bettina Fung, Ying Xue, Ni Li, Yanwen Xiong, Boram Moon, Howl Yuan.

Alongside this programme curated by Ada Hao (PAPRIKA Collective) in collaboration with Bettina Fung, Artists Samboleap Tol and Abbas Zahedi will be running a 'LIVE ARCHIVE / artist' workshop inviting audiences to participate, Chi Bagtas and Glo Orpilla will be running PASAWAY SARI SARI STORE #000.
