FLOW presents four artists who all work in a non-figurative and largely intuitive way. Their motivation for producing work comes from an instinctive energy and inherent visual imagination. The starting points for their art varies, but what they all have in common is the desire to try and make sense of the diverse and often chaotic parts that make up our experience of living. Responding to various triggers in the real world - architecture, nature, the body - each artist has developed an individual pictorial language that seeks to communicate with the viewer in a physical as well as a cerebral way. Using processes of construction and layering; revealing and concealing; adding and subtracting, they explore the spatial relationships between organic or geometric forms. The works differ in scale and demonstrate a sensual feeling for space, often inviting an imagined visual extension beyond the picture frame. They present a dynamic visual exploration that falls somewhere between the tangible and the intangible.
