His performance and installation works are concerned with compositional developments of the post-war period, electro-acoustic music, but also non-musical disciplines.
Since 1996, Hecker has carried out a large number of performances, audio presentations and concerts on major concert stages and at festivals of contemporary music. He has also developed his own approach to sound research within the context of contemporary art, which he presents in solo and group exhibitions. Already back in 2010, he produced the room installation Event, Stream, Object for a solo presentation at the MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst, a work that subsequently entered the museum collection. In 2012 Hecker participated in the documenta 13 in Kassel, and in 2015 he was nominated for the Nationalgalerie Berlin Prize.
The exhibition “Formulations” will stage a comprehensive sequence of Florian Hecker’s sound works in a complex dramatization of acoustic events and sound objects that will enter into close relationship with the architecture of the MMK 3 exhibition space.
The exhibition is being carried out in cooperation with Culturgest, Porto.
The exhibition will take place within the framework of the European Central Bank’s 2016 European Cultural Days. In cooperation with the ECB and the Deutsche Bundesbank.
