About

The Florence Trust is an artist informed organisation that provides short-term programmes and long-term opportunities for a selected group of affiliate practitioners. Artists join our one-year programme at a pivotal stage of their careers and use it as a springboard to establish themselves in the art world. Our alumni have gone on to show in museums and galleries around the world and their work has become part of major international public and private collections. This year the Trust will extend this offer of a studio space and mentoring to an emerging curator or curatorial partnership. The selected curator(s) will facilitate a series of events and exhibitions both within the Florence Trust's inspiring, Grade-1 listed base and outside of it. They will engage with the resident artists and will get the opportunity to write a text about their artwork to be included in the summer exhibition's catalogue. The Arts Council of England has supported this initiative and the successful candidate(s) will receive a £3,000 bursary to assist them during the residency. In addition to this, they will receive a budget to cover project expenses, a free studio space and career development mentoring. We are looking to appoint someone based in the UK that has a curatorial record of accomplishment, but that is not in full time education. In the same way that we aim to help artists that have no institutional or commercial support, we are looking for an emerging independent curator(s) that will benefit from an extended period of support and will make the most of the opportunities this will bring. While viewing the Trust's venue is not a prerequisite for applying, those who feel a visit would improve their application can do so. If you would like to arrange a tour of the space, please e-mail the studio manager. The space is generally available to view during Wednesdays and Fridays. Please find further information on the opportunity and download the application form from our website.
