Artist Flora Parrot explores the complex histories, relationships, meanings and significances of a section of the North York Moors in her new installation, Dipole.

The artwork is the result of a residency project between contemporary artist Parrott, and the rural folk museum, based on the remote North Yorkshire Moors, combining the analysis of a section of rural Moor whilst engaging with the museum and it's collections. The residency is the second of three exhibitions which explore the debates and practices surrounding modern and contemporary sculpture in a rural context. The first in this series (July 2008) was Unit 5, a project funded by Arts Council and Ryedale Folk Museum, in which a group of young curators selected an exhibition of contemporary sculpture from the Arts Council Collection reflecting perceptions of youth culture and interrogating notions of urban and rural.
