Flora Mundi - An Exhibition of Botanical Art by members of the Birmingham Society of Botanical Artists

About

At last! We're thrilled to be opening the Birmingham Society of Botanical Artists' exhibition at the Granary Art Gallery at Weston Park, as we celebrate the onset of spring and the opening of the park and garden.

The Birmingham Society of Botanical Artists was formed in 1999 by graduates of the University of Birmingham’s Certificate of Higher Education in Botanical Illustration. The course took place at Winterbourne Botanic Garden, the Edwardian Arts and Crafts house and garden and attracted artists, botanists and horticulturalists alike. Botanical illustration is where art and science meet, combining acute observation with the artist’s eye for the depiction of beauty, and this exhibition provides a powerful demonstration of work that embody this.
