About

Collecting and preserving of what is seen as relevant today, as well as what could be relevant for future generations is one of the key missions of museums worldwide. The programmatic focus of the 21er Haus is on contemporary art produced in Austria and its international contextualisation. This focus is also mirrored in its permanent collection; keeping in mind the fact that every year new acquisitions are made, it makes sense to evaluate what has raised attention lately, so that it has been considered worthy to be purchased as part of the museum’s collection. This aspect is focused on through a special exhibition, uniting recent themes and trends in the art production and at the same time giving an outlook on what could be next.
