About
FLAW is the acronym of Fight Like A Womxn.
FLAW has connotations of weakness or imperfection and implies a problem or that something is broken.
Much like the problem of male violence against WOMXN.
Private View: Friday 18th of March 6-9 pm
Location: Dray Walk Gallery, The Truman Brewery, London, E1 6QL
Exhibition: 19th -20th March 10-6 pm
Please contact Susanna at susanna_pousette@hotmail.com for RSVP for the Private View.
As a response to continued violence against womxn, Veronique Charlotte developed the project FLAW over the last year through photographing and recording womxn speaking about sexual abuse and womxn’s rights.
The project seeks to highlight issues and raise awareness. Something which Veronique Charlotte as an artist in 2022 feel they have a responsibility to share and speak about.
Presented at The Truman Brewery’s Dray Walk Gallery during Women’s History Month and The Other Art Fair at Truman Brewery, FLAW exhibits photographs, an immersive sound installation and video projection from encounters with the 25 participants. The Private View also features a live body performance by Lilith Newson titled “Love Bites” from their series Narcissus Kisses. Please note this performance contains nudity.
With previous projects such as Gender Project, which has toured cities over Europe, Veronique Charlotte continues to work closely with participants to produce intimate and emotional work connecting the viewers and participants to simultaneously speak to individuality and collectivity.
The exhibition invites viewers to engage on multiple levels through the curation of the exhibition, the video and its immersive sound installation which offers an individual striking experience, designed to invite individual reflection and collective empowerment.
A huge thank you to the 25 participants as well as everyone who has supported the project.
