AboutCHART gallery will be showing the oil paintings of London artist Sam Walker for one week November 14 -19. Sam studied at Kingston University and this year has been named a Winsor & Newton âStar Of The Future'.
This show will feature large-scale works based on her time living in Los Angeles. She set about inter-weaving the narrative of a Home-maker (as she was described on her visa). Making large paintings of small 'dolls house' ephemera whilst painting in the âHyper-real', a style of painting associated with Los Angeles and the writings of Jean Baudrillard and Umberto Eco. Humorous with dark under currents, the work is a literal scrapbook of Sam's response to living in and trying to make sense of being a settler in âLa-La Land'.
CHART gallery is a brand new contemporary art space housed in a former Georgian stable. The raw space complete with large double doors, cobbled floors and wrought iron pillars is a rare sight in an area rife with development and basement conversions.
