AboutFirst Impressions features new work from twenty six artists. Some are well-established, others are at the beginning of their careers. CASSA Art has mounted this exhibition to celebrate what we believe to be a resurgence in print making. At times of financial insecurity, people have traditionally turned to prints because of the value provided by unique art based on high levels of skill and technique offered in strictly limited editions. The prints in First Impressions include etchings, screen prints, wood cuts and aquatints. In addition, a small number of remarkable monoprints will be on show. Like artists from Hogarth and Durer to Hockney and Emin the artists showing their work here relish the medium of print.
The works on show offer an opportunity to experience and share innovative contemporary work produced with flair and professionalism.
First Impressions artists are, in one way or another, all associated with the Sir John Cass Department of Art, Media and Design at London Metropolitan University the former John Cass Art College.
An illustrated catalogue accompanies the exhibition, with biographies of all the artists
