Ben Oakley Gallery is very proud to present a solo show with London born printmaker DRB.
Since his debut solo show last summer, DRB prints and matchboxes have been appearing in galleries, and lampposts all over London and New York. Even the V&A has procured some of his matchboxes for it's Permanent Collection and later in the year he'll be exhibiting in Hong Kong during Art Basel.
His detailed approach to his practice is that of a poet or a storyteller. Every piece is laden with clues that can be read or deciphered. Full of carnivalesque humour this show is as wicked as it is absurd. Nothing is quite what it seems. DRB plays with the problem of reality, perception and with our cultural expectations of our most recent history.
Accompanying the limited matchbox collection are a series of âfirst day cover' hand printed envelopes inc stamps and an edition of emergency âsmash n grab' boxes.
