+TATYANA+ brings her unique program to an acoustic setting at the Take Courage Gallery to present a selection of original songs from her EP “Souvenirs” ( 2017) as well as newer material.
The evening will culminate with a Sound Bath which is a simultaneously inclusive, interactive, and subversive music-led meditation exploring the therapeutic vibrations of the harp.
+TATYANA+ is many things – a harpist, singer, producer and sound artist.
A 2017 graduate from Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA) where she says she “truly found her voice and ability to perform,” she is now acclaimed specialist in Electronic Production and Sound Design. +TATYANA +’s practice is tied to experimentation and weaves her different disciplines to create something that is wholly unique. Her aim as a sound artist is to reawaken and enliven our senses and to enlarge our mental attention. As a performer and a musician with a very contemporary approach to the harp, she blurs the boundaries between pop, jazz, Celtic and folk traditions and combines this new style with warm, lush vocals and electronic drums.
With her installation “Healing Harp” (premiered Oct 2016 at Huret & Spector Gallery, Boston, USA), Tatyana embraces the ephemeral nature of sound through integration of the harp with visual and light art, processing the sound digitally to create vast soundscapes that can be at turns both menacing and ominous, or blissful and sanguine.
By playing with the timbral qualities of the harp, she creates a visual play and reaction to the sound that suggest unexpected meanings. She creates environments that aim to enrich a sense of bodily consciousness and connectedness, where sound and listening relates us to another being or object by perceiving their vibrations. The audience enters a completely immersive world that functions as an escape from reality; taking them on a journey of self-reflection, healing, and contemplation.
