Insight into Eric Gaskel and his Artwork currently on display.. “Drawing is the key element in my work and has been since art college. It is a diary, an academic exercise and a way to work through ideas. My work is colourful and structured that moves from tightly figurative to the symbolic/iconographic work linked to my genealogical research. I prefer linocut, its strong, flat colour and its mark-making suit my working methods. I like how its graphic appearance seems immediate but can actually take many days of work to produce.
Although I continue to paint over the last few years printmaking has come to the fore. I prefer the linocut its strong, flat colour and its mark-making suit my working methods. I like how its graphic appearance seems immediate but can actually take many days of work to produce.
Like most people I do have influences and if I had to make a short list they would be; Edgar Degas and Egon Schiele for their draftsmanship, Georges Braque, Keith Vaughan and Eric Ravilious for their very different painting methods and Bawden for his printmaking.”

Insight into Theresa Barlow and her Artwork currently on display….. Originally from the Midlands I now live and work in the South Hams in Devon. My work includes printmaking and ceramics, often combining the two together. I like to create figures that are having fun in different locations. I especially like fairground and circus images as they are vibrant and full of interesting detail. Being close to the sea in my new home I am increasingly drawn to ideas of people in the sea and on the beach. My art work aims to capture some of the energy and movement involved when people are at play. I have exhibited work in local galleries over the last few years and am excited to now show my work in such a great location. I am a member of the South Hams Arts Forum and take part in the Arts Trail each year when my studio is open to visitors.
