Griffiths' recent paintings present a series of tightly-cropped images of carvings on trees (arborglyphs). Primitive and crude, these inscriptions have diverse origins, both historically and geographically. They include examples produced by Basque shepherds in the American West and by courting couples in the English Home Counties.
