Open White Gallery is excited to present two up-and-coming Danish artists, both winners of the JCE Biennale Grand Prize, in a duo show this January 2020 in Berlin-Kreuzberg
About
discusses (self-)destruction of humankind and nature, challenging the perceptions of what occurs naturally and what is forced/human-made. The presented works take starting points in opposing mediums (the living body vs. the technical machine), yet they are united in their discussion of decay. Together, the works blur the lines between sensation, tragedy and everyday life.
Liesel Burisch is a German-Danish artist and film-maker, living and working in Berlin and Copenhagen. Burisch cleverly captures cultural phenomenon and situations of everyday life. In her work, she creates a sphere that is neither neutral, nor manipulative, but facilitates an internal (and external) debate for the viewer.
Rasmus Søndergaard Johannsen (*1982 Brovst, Denmark) is a Danish conceptual artist and sculptor, living and working in Berlin. In his practice, he strictly follows self-defined schemes that often serve and explore dysfunctional and cyclical purposes.he carefully creates scenarios that are technically planned in detail - only to leave the final act, that will complete the work, up to nature or chance.
