About

Film Screening | Djazaà ¯r 11am — 4pm Djazaà ¯r is a programme of video works by artists who have an intimate relationship with Algeria. The artists in the programme present us with lost and disputed histories that overlap with personal stories, and probe the singularity of the ‘Algerian' experience in relation to both Africa and Europe. Participating artists: Mathieu Kleyebe Abonnenc (France) | Fayçal Baghriche (Algeria/France) | Neà ¯l Beloufa (France/Algeria) | Stéphane Couturier (France) | Katia Kameli (France/Algeria) | Zineb Sedira (France/Algeria) Performance | Lydia Ourahmane 4.15pm Lydia Ourahmane (Algeria/UK) will premiere The Third Choir Archives, a new lecture performance of accumulated research materials and experiences arising from her 2014 sound installation The Third Choir. Ourahmane recently graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London and her work will be included in the Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2014 at World Museum, Liverpool and ICA, London. In-conversation | Zineb Sedira 5pm Zineb Sedira was born in France of Algerian parents. Her photographic and video works draw upon her own experiences to explore where Eastern and Western cultures intersect. She will be joined by Ed McAllister (PhD candidate, University of Oxford), Lydia Ourahmane (artist), Yasmina Reggad (Curator, aria) and Ali MacGilp (writer and curator) to discuss the experience of producing contemporary art in Algeria today. Curated by Ali MacGilp and Yasmina Reggad as part of aria (artist residency in algiers)'s programme of exhibitions. All events are free and everyone is welcome
