Pi Artworks Istanbul invites guests to an informal talk with London based curator Ashlee Conery and Istanbul based poet, graphic-designer and multi-media artist Ece Eldek, following a screening of the film 'Capital' (16min) by Ruth Maclennan and An 'Ocean in Space' (8.5min) by Francis Field.

About

Sitting in the environment created by London based artist Carys Briggs and designer Francis Field for Pi Artworks Istanbul, the conversation means to extend from Hans Hollein’s proposition that "Everything is Architecture". Briggs' fragmentation of universal forms means to draw out our awareness of the instinct to find familiarities in unfamiliar surroundings, the desire to discover or make whole within our minds otherwise abstract settings. Francis Field’s proposition for constructing an ocean in space as means of facilitating not only our escape but our exploration of distant solar systems, simultaneously subverts classical notions about what and how we construct resources, economies and the future. Curator Ashlee Conery will introduce and discuss the work of these four artists, working in video, installation, architecture and poetry, exploring how our languages, cities and homes are all structures, built by design, reflecting certain drives, operating on the basis of certain principles, only conceptually transitioning between decoration and design, memory and aspiration. Ece Eldek will present work and discuss language in relation to structure and meaning opening this discussion further.

We invite other poets, artists (working in all mediums), architects and thinkers to join this informal conversation.
